Message from the Mayor
Welcome to Grayslake!

Welcome to the Village of Grayslake website. This site is designed to provide accurate and easy to use information on Village services and programs. We hope that you find this website useful and helpful. For those of you that have chosen Grayslake as your home, you already appreciate the qualities that make Grayslake a special place. Your Village municipal government provides many important services including police protectionwater and sewer servicesstreet maintenance, and garbage and recycling services to name a few. As a result of a long-time philosophy of innovation, the Village government leads the way in providing services in the most efficient ways possible. Continued innovation, including technology investments, process reengineering, and the use of private contractors rather than public payrolls, makes our services the least expensive possible.

Unlike many suburbs, Grayslake has over 100 years of rich history since its incorporation in 1895. The historic downtown and adjoining heritage neighborhood, with its many historic homes displaying architecture of the 20th century, provide a village center for the entire community. Bike paths connecting neighborhoods, parks, forest preserves, recreation facilities, abundant protected open spaces, youth sport groups, fine schools, and the products and services provided by a growing business community are just some of the things that make Grayslake the best place to live.

The residents of Grayslake can be assured that the Village Board, staff, and myself are proactive in taking steps to maintain and improve the quality of life for our residents. The community we have does not happen by accident. Positive accomplishments are realized by the combined efforts of your dedicated Village Board, citizen advisory commissions, community organizations, residents, and Village employees. You can be assured that together we can continue to work to make our community a special place. We are happy to have you as a part of the community.

Sincerely

Rhett Taylor, Mayor
